Among the calm waters of Mar Piccolo and 70 hectares of secular olive trees, just 10km from Taranto, the “Relais Histò San Pietro Sul Mar Piccolo” perfectly blends nature with history, art with technology, sea with land, and past with present. Tranquility, privacy and attention to detail are characteristics of the hospitality at Histò and, thanks to careful renovation work, the excellent hotel has preserved the colours, materials and spirit of the ancient Salento masseria which dates back to 1392 and, at that time, was built on the foundations of a rustic Roman villa then converted into a convent.

The present building embodies the philosphy of the Culti who have overseen the renovation work, applying their lifestyle concept to the interior design, the fragrance and all that is related to the essential and exclusive atmosphere that has the wellness at heart of whoever lives there.

The sophisticated hotel has 46 large and airy bedrooms and suites, divided among the aristocratic part and the cloister of the Antica Sorgente (‘Ancient Water Source’) overlooking the green of the orange grove. Each room invites you to relax, with its own views over the sea or the cloister, with its own historic details and modern design and technology. The minimal furnishing and clean, elegant lines make the atmosphere unpretentious and unique - a silent luxury.

Mediterranean fragrances and archaeological finds that recall the past are to be found among pleasant areas shaded by olive trees and the new swimming pool. From winter 2009, guests can also enjoy the wellness of the ancient Roman baths, inside a pampering 1,500 square-metre SPA.

Breakfast is served in the Octagonal Court and there is an excellent restaurant in the ancient olive-mill which can host up to 200 people. Taste, tradition and creativity blend the flavours of Puglia cuisine. The lounge area, created in the ancient manger, allows you to relax in a rarefied area, defined by the candour of the white stone and precise design...

Among the four meeting rooms of various sizes, the imposing 1st century A.D. basilica with frescoed apse stands out. Furthermore, it is possible to book the building for exclusive use for private events.
