Peace and silence reign on the 1,100 hectare Borgo di Bagnaia estate, ten kilometres from Siena, where nature and history meet continually. This fascinating estate has never been corrupted by time and, for connoisseurs of charm, it is presented today as a top-level tourist and congress centre.

Il Borgo has been developed on two different yet complementary zones: the ancient La Bagnaia village, dating back to 1200 A.D., and the historic Filetta customs house of 1100 A.D., enhanced by the majestic congress centre set on the “terrace over the world” hill and by the “Buddha Spa” health farm.

The word ‘Bagnaia’ recalls the historic richness of the waters of the territory where, since medieval times, the Siena population had thermal baths which were famous even over the borders and were visited by popes, cardinals and princes.

The legend of the famous Santa Caterina water which could relieve pain, is relived today with the Buddha Wellness Centre. Indeed, precisely at the place where the farm labourers’ children went to search for “the water that is good for you”, the ancient source has been found again and analysis has confirmed that it possesses extraordinary curing properties.

The bedrooms and the suites are all different from each other. Furnishing consists of fantastic unique made-to-measure pieces made by skilled craftsmen. Also the fabric used for the curtains, bed-covers and cushions are of exclusive design.

The modern furniture goes splendidly with rare Chinese and European antiques, coming from the private collection of the proprietor. A spectacular range of activities is offered: survival courses, archery, horse rides, hot-air ballooning, falconry demonstrations, shooting parties, participation in wine and olive harvesting.
