“Cringletie House” takes its name, it is believed, from the original 13th century landowner William de Crelenge. Within close proximity to Edinburgh, Cringletie is also just miles away from the world famous Rosslyn Chapel, with its glorious carvings, now also linked to the “Holy Grail” and “Da Vinci Code” drama.
The property was purchased and the original house rebuilt in 1861 by the prominent Scottish architect David Bryce. The splendid Victorian house was later converted into a country mansion, retaining its original charm and appeal.
The superb edifice rests on the grounds of its renowned Walled Garden - amongst the oldest in Scotland and a veritable herbaceous paradise, complete with its own real waterfall, a historic and listed dovecote, a croquet lawn and even a pitch and putt area. Sited as one of the top ten gardens in Scotland it continues to be a work in progress, maintaining the highest standards of horticultural and arboricultural excellence.
All of the guestrooms are equally and distinctively fashioned, each exuding its individual character, with contemporary influences and exceptional modern amenities.
