Documented as having existed in 1149, then destroyed in the 13th century, during the war between Como and Milan, Carimate Castle was rebuilt in 1345 by the Visconti family, renaming it “The Citadel”. Among the green hills of Brianza, it is an oasis of well-being and tranquillity.
The bedrooms, once those of Caterina Visconti, Galeazzo Visconti and Ludovico the Moor and hosting Emperor Maximilian I of Hapsburg, today have the most modern comforts and amenities. Some have a lovely view over the secular park while others look out over the splendid courtyard inside or over the village.
There are nine meeting rooms, some connecting to create larger spaces, with up-to-date congress facilities as well as the services of the ‘l’Angelo’ Restaurant.
Surrounded by an 80,000 square metre park and with the great castle terrace, it creates an enchanting setting for a successful meeting, convention or wedding.
The castle is just a few minutes walk from Carimate Golf Club with adjacent panoramic swimming pool available for golf club guests. Facilities include long horse rides or romantic boat trips.
