Strassoldo di Sopra Castle, as the contemporary and adjacent Sotto Castle, is contained in a delightful medieval village immersed in the peace of a large secular park furrowed by a crystal clear spring water source.

The two castles are among few which have always belonged to the same family, the Strassoldo family, who had them built about 1,000 years ago and are known as ‘water castles’ of the Bassa Friulana spring water source.

Inside, they still have today furniture, and antique portraits of ancestors who seem to be welcoming visitors. Among the family memorabilia, one breathes a magic air of a place where history has never been interrupted.

It is possible to stay right in the heart of a medieval village, in the recently restored and delightful ancient “Vicinia” 15th century house with arched portico, which is next to the main structure of Strassoldo di Sopra Castle and has access to its splendid park.
