The Grand Hotel Chiaia di Luna is a fascinating hotel with famed tradition, set in a natural amphitheatre with a 2,000 square metre terrace overlooking the sea, 200 metres away from the beach and 500 metres from the town centre. It is in a lovely bay in the south-west of Ponza, one of the Pontine islands, which form an enchanting archipelago off the Gulf of Gaeta in the Tyrrhenian Sea, and can be easily reached from the ports of Formia, Anzio, Terracina or Naples.

Eugenio Montale defined Ponza as “an island which has remained an island… Amongst prickly pear plants, bougainvillea and ‘explosions’ of broom plants, I lose myself in the beauty of its sunsets and have found my paradise here on earth.”
Recently restructured, The Grand Hotel is the only Ponza hotel with views of the port, Chiaia di Luna Bay and Palmarola Island. Its delightful little houses – pastel tints with white domes – reflect the characteristic architecture of the island. The bedrooms and refined suites are in an unpretentious and elegant Mediterranean style, with views of the sea, garden or terrace.

The fascination of this sea area, its fragrances and colours, will give you unforgettable moments - diving, sailing, deep-sea fishing or just relaxing. One of the island’s two equipped beaches is situated below the hotel and can be reached directly through a Roman tunnel. All the other beaches are accessible by boat only. The hotel staff are available for boat, car or scooter rental and will gladly assist you in planning excursions: a trip around the island, a visit to Palmarola Island (protected marine area) or to Zannone Island (part of the Monte Circeo National Park). The hotel also offers a continuous shuttle-bus service from/to the harbour from 08.00 to 20.00.

On the terraces next to the wonderful seawater swimming pool, there is the Lounge Bar, an ideal place for delightful aperitifs and snacks for lunch or cocktails at sunset, and the “CHIAIA”restaurant, where you can enjoy romantic candle light dinners, based on Mediterranean dishes, fresh fish and accompanied by a selection of excellent wines, whilst admiring the moonlit harbour of Ponza and the glittering sea in a pleasant atmosphere under a starry sky.
