The Hotel Chalet Il Capricorno is an exclusive retreat located at 1800 meters above sea level in Sauze d'Oulx, in the heart of the Upper Susa Valley Alps. Opened in 1966 and constantly renovated, this 4-star charming hotel is a landmark for mountain lovers. Its location is unique: it is the only hotel in the Via Lattea with direct access to the ski slopes (Les Clotes slope) and a magnificent panoramic view of the woods and surrounding valleys, far from traffic but convenient for reaching Sestriere and Oulx.
Rooms and Atmosphere
The chalet houses only 10 rooms, each dedicated to a zodiac sign, ensuring an intimate and discreet atmosphere. The decor, made of stone and wood, combines rustic mountain warmth with maximum modern comfort (free Wi-Fi, satellite TV). Each room is a small observatory, offering priceless views of the Triplex, Bourget, and Genevris mountains. The interiors are enriched with unique details and collectible objects from the 1930s and 1940s that emphasize its vocation as a luxurious "private home."
Gourmet Dining and Services
The Locanda's restaurant, Naskira, is a highlight and boasts prestigious recognition in guides such as Michelin and Gambero Rosso. The cuisine is a research laboratory that combines flavors from Piedmont, France, and the Alpine arc, often reinterpreted in a lighter version. In summer, guests can have lunch on the panoramic terrace. Services include direct slope access, a fitness centre, a library, and the "Alta Quota" bar. The property also offers a paid shuttle service to the airport and a shuttle service to the city centre, essential for the direct slope access that isolates the hotel in winter (staff accompany guests to the nearest parking with a snowmobile).
Activities
In winter, the hotel is ideal for alpine skiing, snowboarding, and descents. In summer, it is the perfect starting point for trekking, mountain biking, and mountaineering, allowing guests to enjoy the silence and scents of the Upper Susa Valley woods.
