The building, which today houses the Torre Cambiaso Hotel, was originally a guard tower for a farm estate rich in military-type.
The area was in fact mentioned in 14th century historical documents with reference to the civil war between the Guelphs (Welfs) and Ghibellines.
The association between history and hospitality make Torre Cambiaso a refined residential villa today, with a dual function as a centre for congresses or party receptions.
The bedrooms, one of which is actually in the ancient tower, are spread out on the upper floors and in the basement, while the ancient stables contain the luxury suites. The restaurant offers a wide choice of menu, suggested or personalised, assuring approval even in the most demanding of ceremonies.
Refreshments can be enjoyed at the edge of the swimming pool or in the Italian garden-park with its lake and grotto.

His Opinion: Das Hotel liegt ruhig auf einem Hügel. Die Anfahrtsstraße zum Hotel ist sehr schmal. Das restaurant dort haben wir nicht getestet. Das Frühstück war für italienische Verhältnisse OK

His Opinion: I cannot think of a single reason that would entice me to stay here again. The location is poor, the views on the website really benefit from some good photography. The road to get there is awful and it is some 20 odd minutes from anywhere decent, stuck out in the slightly iffy parts of industrial/port Genoa.
The beds are the poorest I have slept in, and in our second bedroom I literally could not get a suitcase into the room to unpack, such is the cramped nature of the accommodation.
The pool is open for a few hours a few days a week (why the heck would a pool ever be closed in summer?).
The building is really pretty average. The "castel" bits are cheap knock off veneers, and most of it is in need of some TLC.
The staff were uninviting and seemed completely disinterested in being of any assistance. We were left to our own devices over breakfast (i.e. there were no staff to be seen), which included us making our own eggs on the frying pans! While I suspect we may have been the only guests in the hotel (never a good thing in Italy in August), there is really no excuse for the service from this establishment.
After a 2 1/2 week tour through Europe, this hotel stands out as the biggest disappointment of our trip...and not by a small margin.

His Opinion: we were given rooms in the sidehouse (which had very nice rooms too, but just the attitude was a bit starnge); hotel was empt, quiet, nice, Pizzeria just some 50 meters away so we could catch some late food and bring to the hotel
