L'Heure Bleue Palais
“L’Heure Bleue Palais” was once an abandoned “fondouk”, an ancient lodging house for merchants, of Essaouira, which is said to be one of the most splendid coastal cities of southern Morocco, a crossroads of rich European, Arabic and African influences from civilizations past.
The characteristic “fondouk” was later transformed into an exquisite XIX century palace by the caid Mbark Saidi, serving as a traditional Moroccan family riad. Over time and after years of neglect, it once again fell into disrepair until finally, with the consent and desire of the entire town, the palatial kasbah was lovingly and painstakingly restored, converted to its present day glory, a testament to Essaouira’s affluent past.
All its guestrooms are meticulously styled and furnished to reflect the individual character of its African, English or Oriental themes, fusing rich colour palates with the essential design elements of each culture.
The gastronomic presentation is likewise refined, juxtaposing oriental flavours and ambiance with fine French culinary delights.
Today this magnificent hotel preserves all of its historic grandeur and architectural relevance, harmonized with the latest, most innovative modern amenities to provide a unique and provocative quintessential Moroccan experience.
