The Parador de Cardona is considered one of the most evocative Paradores in all of Catalonia and Spain, as it is housed within a spectacular medieval fortress (Cardona Castle) dating back to the 9th century. Perched on a hill, it overlooks the Cardoner River and the famous Salt Mountain (Muntanya de Sal). This Parador offers a stay experience that is a true journey through time, combining Romanesque and Gothic walls with modern luxury and comfort.
The castle's architecture is imposing, featuring battlements, a cloister, and the Romanesque church of Sant Vicenç, considered a jewel of Catalan architecture. The Parador's rooms have been skillfully adapted to preserve the medieval charm, with four-poster beds and rustic Catalan-style furnishings. Many offer unforgettable panoramic views of the Pyrenees and the surrounding landscape.
The Parador is also famous for its Room 712, linked to the legend of the 'Bride of Cardona,' an element of mystery that adds to the stay's charm. Guests are free to explore the walls, the Minyona tower, and the collegiate church, immersing themselves in Catalan history. The night lighting transforms the complex into a magical and almost unreal place.
The restaurant focuses on traditional Catalan cuisine, with a particular emphasis on local and mountain products. Dishes like escudella i carn d'olla (Catalan stew) or coques (flatbreads) are served in a dining room with vaulted stone ceilings, offering an elegant and historic atmosphere. The culinary experience is a tribute to the flavors of central Catalonia.
The elevated position provides a privileged view of the unique cultural park of the Salt Mountain, a singular geological phenomenon. Cardona is the perfect starting point for excursions and visits to this and other sites of interest. The Parador represents the ideal fusion of historical seclusion, scenic beauty, and luxury service, making it an essential stop in Catalonia.

His Opinion: * Très beau site historique.
etc
