Partially hidden by the high boundary wall which surrounds the building and the park, the splendid Villa Dragonetti is majestic, concealing behind the harsh fifth-century architecture the beauty and riches of the insides which, instead, testimony the influence of the different kinds of styles of the years between the 18th and 19th centuries.
In fact, on the route connecting all the salons between high arches and panelled ceilings, you are almost disoriented by the quantity of frescoes and decorations which invite you to stop and enjoy the details but at the same time stimulate your curiosity to discover new ones or unexpected panoramic glimpses: One is attracted by the bestiario painted diffusely on the walls, by Roman period marble busts, by illustrations of places and customs of far away, here and there with the artifice of “trompe l'oeil” or with the fantasy use of the “grotesque”
This is Villa Dragonetti: an intriguing hazard of styles and a pleasant interweaving of history, art and nature.
Inside the walls, there is a vast park of about 4,000 square metres, with the Villa in the background, crowned by the precious Italian garden with stone sculpted lions, posted to guard the main entrance in ancient times.
In the villa, the 7 guest bedrooms preserve the fascination of the ancient aristocratic residence, being exclusive and furnished with care; period furniture, colours which give the names to the rooms, frescoed walls and ancient wooden beams on view. And crossing the garden, there are 3 bedrooms in the guest house in pretty country style.
To start the day with the best greeting possible, the Villa breakfast given to guests includes pastries prepared daily by the chef, typical cold cuts and local cheeses, excellent Aquila region bread, fresh fruit salad… In the summer season, you can also have breakfast under the shade of the pine tree in the evocative garden.

discretion. A lot of efforts to make you
comfortable. The visit to Gran Sasso National Reserve plus the surrounded villages of Aquila made our stay really worth while.
