“Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Estate” takes its name from the Gaelic word for ‘sitting by the river’, as it is exactly where this supreme Castle is found, on prime seaside location by the vast trout and salmon fishing river that flows into it.
Designed in Scottish Baronial style by the eminent 19th century architect David Bryce for the 7th Earl of Donmore and proudly set amongst its 55,000 glorious acres of land, it is a veritable protected oasis, filled with plant and wildlife, steep rolling hills, remote green glens and rugged sea cliffs - breathtaking natural beauty framed by the white sandy beaches and pristine turquoise seas.
A visit to this grand imposing manor reveals insight into the historic Celtic culture of the Outer Hebrides and activities abound in this little corner of paradise where there is something for everyone.
Accommodations are everything one would expect from such an elaborate structure, with spacious, individually designed and tastefully appointed guestrooms, each with its own private bath and all amenities.
The inviting guestrooms are furnished with period antiques and paintings to please the knowing traveller’s palate.
