Castello di Velona Resort, Thermal SPA & Winery is a restored 11th-century fortress perched on a hill with panoramic views of Val d’Orcia. Located about 8 km from Montalcino, it is surrounded by vineyards producing Brunello, olive groves and the wild nature of Tuscany.

The 46 rooms and suites are divided between the castle’s historic core and the modern “Spa & Terrace” wing. OLISPA: 1,500 sqm of thermal wellness
The “OLISPA” wellness area covers 1,500 square meters and features connected indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpools, double Turkish bath, panoramic sauna, sensory showers, ice cascade and relaxation area with herbal tea and fresh fruit. Treatments use local natural products such as grapes and olive oil.

The Castle Exclusive Suites, located in the castle’s historic section, offer spacious rooms, divided into living and sleeping quarters, with a total area of about 50 m2.
Each of the 15 suites is distinct from the others because of the different colours and the characteristic elements inspired by the Tuscan tradition, such as the exposed beams, the vaulted ceilings, the terracotta tile floors and the large decorative fireplaces. Some of these suites are arranged over two levels.
The bedrooms are equipped with a comfortable double bed with slatted base and high comfort mattress, two night tables and lamps, an armchair, a breakfast table and/or a desk, a wardrobe with suitcase stand and safe, a minibar, a cabinet with a 42” flat screen TV, a CD player and iPod station and an elegant coffee set.
In the living room, elegant furnishings with comfortable sofa beds and armchairs create an environment ideal for relaxation.
The marble-finished bathrooms are equipped with bathtub or shower and a single or double washbasin and some have a scenic view.
Each apartment offers a breathtaking view over the Val d’Orcia and the vineyards surrounding the castle.
The Castle Deluxe rooms, comfortable and elegant, are located in the actual castle area and cover a surface of about 35 m2 overlooking the Val d’Orcia.
They are all elegantly and stylishly decorated and maintain some features of the Tuscan tradition with the characteristic exposed beams and vaulted ceilings. His Opinion: Un hôtel magnifique dominant la campagne. Nous avons vraiment apprécié le calme et la beauté du lieu. Notre chambre ( junior suite ) était spacieuse et joliment meublée. Très belle piscine, spa superbe.
Le petit déjeuner est très bien : grand choix tant en sucré qu'en salé , néanmoins à ce niveau de prestation on est en droit d'attendre du jus de fruit frais...
Seul point négatif de l'hôtel , le restaurant principal : mini-portions mais maxi-prix et surtout la lenteur du service : il a fallu 2h30 pour arriver au bout de notre dîner ( 1 entrée et 1 plat , nous avons abandonné avant le dessert ! ).
Par contre le "petit" restaurant côté bar, avec ses plats plus simples est sympathique.

His Opinion: Hôtel réellement splendide, accueil exceptionnel, chambres grand luxe, spa et piscines génialissimes, restaurant gastro super top ( nous y sommes allés 4 fois sur 6 jours ) et une vue panoramique à couper le souffle.
Bref nous n'avons que des éloges pour cet endroit et c'est vraiment le cœur gros que nous sommes partis.
une chose est certaine, nous y retournerons !

His Opinion: We had a wonderful stay at Castello di Velona, The staff at the front desk was very attentive and our treatments with Roberta in the salon were sublime. Our only complaints would be that the phone lines were not up and running yet for housekeeping and room service. Also, housekeeping should clean up towels in bathroom at night when they do the turn down and also pick up the laudry bags as we had to keep bringing them down to the front desk. Other than that, our accoommodations were great and we hope to come back again. We will recommend the hotel to our family and friends.
