Caserta is one of the artistic and historical capitals of Campania, known worldwide for its magnificent Royal Palace (Reggia), a masterpiece of Italian Baroque architecture, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Commissioned by Charles of Bourbon and designed by Luigi Vanvitelli, the Palace is the emblem of the city, but the territory also offers gastronomic excellence and centuries-old traditions. Caserta, in the heart of 'Campania Felix', combines the opulence of the Bourbon court with the richness of its land.
Caserta is an important railway hub and is well connected by the A1 motorway (Milan-Naples). The best way to reach Caserta and its surroundings is by car, but the Royal Palace is also easily accessible on foot from the station. To visit the Belvedere of San Leucio and Casertavecchia, the use of local shuttles or taxis is recommended. Our experts suggest dedicating a full day to visiting the Royal Palace and its Park.
