Sudeley Castle is steeped in history. With royal connections spanning a thousand years, it has played an important role in the turbulent and changing times of England’s past. The Castle was once home to Queen Katherine Parr, the last and only surviving wife of Henry VIII. Henry, his second wife Anne Boleyn, Lady Jane Grey, Queen Elizabeth I and King Charles have all lived at or visited Sudeley.
In the beautiful setting of the Cotswold Hills, the cleverly restored and carefully furnished cottages and apartments each have their own individual charm, retaining many original and unique features. The sympathetic newer cottages seamlessly blend into the old complex. The resort is an ideal choice for a walking or touring holiday or simply as a relaxing escape into the countryside. The cottages have well equipped kitchens, access to shared gardens and our housekeeper is on hand throughout your stay. Fascinating artefacts from several centuries of Sudeley’s past illustrate its importance as a major historical site. And the superb gardens with hundreds of varieties of roses are among the very best in England. Today old roses and clematis festoon the picturesque ruins of the castle, which recalls the Tudor era, whilst magnolia, cherry trees and colourful flowers abound in formal Victorian gardens framed with voluminous blocks of yew hedges and boxwood.
