Festa de São João – The biggest popular festival, in June, with bonfires, plastic hammers, and lanterns flying over the Douro.

Getting Around – The subway is efficient, but much of the historic center is easily walkable. For a touch of charme, the Electric Tram along the riverbank is recommended.
